Woops, the fixative sort of killed it. I lost all my light tones and was so pissed that I eventually convinced myself "it looks better now anyhow."
Added some white details to make it eerie in a paintings-from-a-haunted-mansion kinda way.

I'm starting to collect as many magazines as possible to start a number of collages based on a mixed digital signal.
luckily, i know a lot of people with crappy cable and was able to snap a few reference shots with my camera phone...

My Bottom Bitches

Ive decided to finish a picture thats been haunting my room the past four months.
The plan was to do a series of uncomfortable portraits;
these were some of the gems i was ambitious enough to start in august but never finish..



Expect a nice scanned version after Ive picked at it a little more and am able to successfully sneak into the Pratt classrooms.
For the most part its complete and my only regret is not making the girls slightly more skewed and grotesque. would have been charming.

Done this one up the other day. Its chalk pastel and pencil of I don't know what. The first is a photo and the second is the image scanned. Its all mismatched because the scan took forever and I gave up,
although, I sort of like the messed up copy more.
I find my illustrations lack excitement and i need to work on that whether it be through different graphic elements or mistakes.

oils

One thing I've done which I haven't in a while was paint with oils.
Using them I came to realize I prefer acrylic when it comes to painting detail. I think these couple of cocks show that ; p


BUT its much more fun to move paint around with oil. plus, they give off richer color with less effort. in that case i made this abstract? piece which is now hanging in my brother's kitchen.

I think i'll stick to illustrations..

oh yea..

I guess I should update on my little "seclusion project" which has become more of a "i'll continue to do everything I was before but be more productive..project."

I'll start posting a handful of things I've been working on.

found this great picture online. its totally creepy/wonderful and decided it'd be really good to use with chalk pastels.
picking it up again made me realize how i use to actually like pastels. probably will try my hand with them in a few more portraits and a watercolor mixed media painting.

Ive decided to go into seclusion.
No television. Limited internet. Facebook done. Friends cut.

Begun clearing the attic to make room for separate stations of creative concentration. By devoting 7 to 8 hours a day, 6 days a week, to mindless but intensive projects of multiple mediums, im hoping to achieve a stable identity of work before my move to the city, bare.
I knew this but needed someone to tell me to do it - thanks matt.
The idea is exciting me and i cant wait to get started.

! communication design is being raped by cheap, easy access computer software with the biggest evil (to me) being stock photography. i can only hope that with a revival of the economy there will be a revival of aesthetics. in the mean time, lets try and keep design from becoming a four-lettered word.

last week i lost a great job to do a series of vector drawings for a guy named Marcos. i havent heard from him in a while and im afraid he switched illustrators when i didnt respond for the day.

also- dont trust Craigslist nanny listings or put your hopes on a hasty apartment move!
